Her father worked for the US Forest Service, and because of the nature of his job, her family moved around a lot. As a result, Christina always had to deal with the burden of being the new child in school. She has a sibling, a brother named Aaron Hendricks. She spent most of her early life in Portland, Oregon, Idaho (Twin Falls).

During her teenage years, her family moved to Fairfax, Virginia (her father was transferred to the Forest Service in Washington) where she attended Fairfax High School, and like most kids in high school, she was the victim of bullying. As a kind of defense mechanism, she became not only a goth but also a social outcast. Later she found comfort in the theater department of Fairfax High School, where she started acting.

Highlights of Her Modeling Career

Christina Hendricks started her modeling career at the age of 18. At that time she appeared on the cover of Seventeen Magazine. She wanted to become an actress because she had already received admission to the acting school of Virginia Commonwealth University. However, she decided to give up her education in order to concentrate on her modeling career.

After seeing her photo on the cover of Seventeen Magazine, Christina was finally signed by IMG Models. She then moved to New York City. As a model, she was exceptional for her glamorous red hair (although she is naturally blonde, she has been dying her hair red since she was 10 years old), her translucent skin, blue eyes, breathing voice, and most importantly, her voluptuous hourglass figure. Her body measurements, which are given as 42-30-39 inches for chest, waist, and hips, illustrate her curvaceous figure.

Some of her fans have questioned the authenticity of her breasts, but she was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that her breasts are real. In New York Hendricks got several modeling gigs that took her to other countries like Japan and London. When she was about 27 years old, she started appearing in commercials for companies like Dr. Pepper, Carls Jr., and others and also appeared on some movie posters. But little by little she fell in love with acting and started auditioning for film roles.

How Christina Successfully Switched From Modeling to Acting

Although it was only in 2007 that she became known and critically acclaimed for her role as Joan Harris (a cheeky secretary of the 1960s who became an advertising agency partner) in the American TV series Mad Men, Christina Hendricks has been working in the film industry since 1999. After finishing her modeling career, she got her first role in the movie Sorority in 1999, where she played the role of Fawn.

In the same year, she also appeared in her first TV show Undressed, in which she played the role of Rhiannon. Subsequently, she appeared in television series such as Beggars and Choosers (2000), ER (2002), Kevin Hill (2004), and Without a Trace (2006). More recently, she has starred in blockbuster movies such as Drive, God’s Pocket, and Lost River. Her successful career in the film industry was crowned with several awards and nominations.

So far Christina Hendricks has won 13 awards and has been nominated 22 times (6 of them for the Primetime Emmys). She has received much praise and recognition from an astonishing number of male and female fans and for her role interpretation, especially for her role as Joan Harris in the TV series Mad Men.

Interestingly enough, a Tumblr report was dedicated to answering the question “What will Joan do?” to further immortalize the Joan Harris character, who was brilliantly portrayed by Christina. In addition, the actress also gave the character of Sam Harper a voice in the video game “Need for Speed: The Run” and starred in music videos such as Broken Bells’ “The Ghost Inside” and Everclear’s “One Hit Wonder”.

In October 2009, the talented actress married Geoffrey Arend, an American actor of Pakistani, German, and English descent. The couple first met in 2007 through a mutual friend and Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser. After the mutual connection, it didn’t take long for the two lovebirds to get along. Two years after their relationship began, the duo announced their engagement and in October 2009 they exchanged their marriage vows.

Just like Christina, Arend is also a talented actor and dubbing artist. He was born on February 28, 1978, in Manhattan, New York City. A graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City in 1996, Geoffrey is best known for his role as Ethan Gross in the ABC television series Body of Proof and as Matt Mahoney in the CBS television series, Madam Secretary.

Because Geoffrey has been in the American film industry for over a decade, he has had relatively few acting roles compared to Hendricks. He has only won one award (the Newport Beach Film Festival’s Achievement in Acting Award), while his wife has received more than 13 awards in her career. Despite this, the couple never loved each other less; they made several headlines and were considered one of the sweetest celebrity couples there is. According to reports, the couple decided not to have children so that Christina could fully concentrate on her acting career.

Are They Still Married?

The couple, considered fashionistas, was voted best-dressed couple at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards 2015. But things seemed to be perfect between the two until reports of their possible separation became widespread. It all began in October 2019, when the couple publicly announced their separation. The revelation was made on Instagram, and that not only alarmed their fans but also put the media on the line.

In the wake of the media frenzy, Christina Hendricks asked to be given space during their separation while they tried to work together during the trial. Later in December 2019, the actress filed for divorce from her husband, citing insurmountable differences. Their ten-year marriage finally ended that year, and the couple went their separate ways. Although they had no children, they trained two cute dogs together.

Since their divorce, there has been no news from either party about future relationships. The former couple focused on their acting and did their best to reach the peak of their respective careers. More than that, they decided to stay friends and also to work together, if possible even on the same film project.
