American professional baseball player Tanner Roark has made a name for himself in Major League Baseball (MLB), playing as a pitcher for the Washington Nationals. He made his Major League debut with the team in 2013 and has stayed there ever since.

Tanner Roark Biography

The MLB pitcher was born Tanner B. Roark in New Haven in southern Illinois on 5 October 1986. When he was quite young, his parents moved to Wilmington after his father had secured a job there. He had started playing baseball at an early age when he grew up with his brother Dillon Roark and his older sister Samantha. One of the most important things that influenced his love for the game is his father, who has always loved the sport.

Roark attended Wilmington High School and from there he transferred to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Both in his high school and college years, he played the sport he has always loved.

Career and Stats

As mentioned earlier, it was Tanner’s life as a baseball player in the MLB that put him in the spotlight. Before he took the big step, he was selected by the Texas Rangers after he was allowed to do the Amateur Player Draft of 2008. He remained on the team until 2010 when he was transferred to the Washington Nationals.

Roark began playing for the Nationals in the Minor League, and in 2013 the pitcher moved up to the big leagues. He’s been with the team ever since.

Beyond the league, Tanner Roark also played for the United States baseball team at the 2017 World Baseball Classic, where he helped the team win the gold medal in both the semi-final against Japan and the final against the Dominican Republic with significant games.

By the time he had played 164 games, he had also started in 124 of them, saving a single game. His career wins over substitutes are 15.3, his wins are 58, his losses are 45 and he has a deserved run average of 3.42. In addition, Roark has 833.0 innings thrown, 651 strikeouts and his spaces plus hits per inning thrown (WHIP) is 1.182.

Since beginning his career in the MBL in 2013, Roark has stayed with just one team, and that is the Washington Nationals. Nonetheless, he has signed several contracts with the team. In 2018, he signed a one-year contract with the team worth $6,475,000. Since this is a one-year contract, it is expected that he will take home a guaranteed salary in the same amount.

He had previously also signed a one-year contract with the team in 2017. The value of the contract was $4,315,000, which is also his base salary. He has obviously made good progress, considering that his salary was $543,400 in 2016, compared to $529,600 in 2015 and $506,100 in 2014.

Roark isn’t someone who has a long history with women. In fact, he has not been publicly associated with any woman in the past, except the woman he eventually married, Amanda Botelho, who is now known as Amanda Roark.

The two have come a long way, having been together since college before deciding to become man and wife in 2013. Amanda Roark was born in 1989 in Lawton, Oklahoma, as Amanda Patricia.

Prior to her covenant with Tanner, Amanda had the couple’s first child, Madison, in 2009. Two years later, they decided to get engaged and two years later to enter into marriage. In July 2015 Amanda and Tanner had their second child, another daughter, whom they named Kennedy Gary.
