After graduating, he enrolled at Tulane University where he played college soccer from 2011 to 2015. He played for Tulane alongside Orleans Darkwa in the backfield; in his freshman year, Kelley scored 16 receptions with 178 receptions and two touchdowns with 332 rushing yards. NFL Career and Stats

During the 2016 NFL draft, Robert Kelley was not shortlisted, and after the draft, he signed on as an undeveloped free agent with the NFL’s Washington Redskins. When he joined the Redskins, Kelley scored his first touchdown in his career against Kirk, cousin of the Detroit Lions. He made his first career start after the absence of Matt Jones. When he played the Cincinnati Bengals on October 30, 2016, Robert had 21 Carries with 87 rushing yards. In the 2017 season, he received less playing time because he was placed behind Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine. Two touchdowns against the Seattle Seahawks in their 9th-week win earned Robert an injury that put him on the injured reserve for the rest of the season. He ended the season with three touchdowns and 194 stormy yards.

While the 2018 season preliminaries are still underway, the Redskins’ rush line was not as efficient after the absence of Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine, who are still recovering from their injuries. This means a big responsibility for the Washington bum Kelley. He will not only get more playing time but also the chance to prove himself as a bell ringer for his team. Hopefully, he will then receive a permanent starting jersey for the Redskins.
