When Emily Wickersham was cast as the new female lead in the long-running CBS series NCIS, she expected things to get mad pretty quickly. Wickersham’s character, NSA analyst Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop, replaces Ziva David after actress Cote de Pablo left the show in its eleventh season. This did not stop her from taking on the role of Bishop as her own. Originally cast for a three-episode series, Wickersham was promoted to a regular series. The 5-foot 7-inch, brown-haired beauty has obsessed the role at every step so far, and NCIS fans have become quite accustomed to Ellie Bishop on screen. There’s a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to Wickersham, and NCIS is not her only success story.

How Did Emily Wickersham Kick Start Her Acting Career?

Before Emily Wickersham became a confident actress with a wide range of acting skills, she was quite shy and had little confidence in front of the camera. Because she had trouble speaking in front of crowds, Wickersham enrolled in a speech and acting class at New School, NYC. She applied what she had learned at acting school and began auditioning for roles.

Emily Wickersham began her acting career in 2006 when she appeared as Jules in an episode of the Late Show with David Letterman. In the same year, she also got a supporting role in the reality TV series Parco P.I. After being approached by an agent in a restaurant, Wickersham was able to audition for the acclaimed crime TV series The Sopranos and got a role in that series. She played the role of A.J.’s girlfriend, Rhiannon Flammer, who appeared in four episodes in the last season of the series.

Emily Wickersham then cast her first film role in the comedy-drama Gardener of Eden from 2007, and in the same year, she appeared in two other television series. She played the role of Suzy Steinbrenner in an episode of the ESPN mini-series The Bronx is Burning. She was also the girl in the one-hour MTV special “The Gamekillers”. Wickersham added another acting achievement to her resume when she was cast as Maria Benetto Lang in the television movie For One More Day.

In 2008, Wickersham was cast in a supporting role in the romantic comedy-drama film Definitely, Maybe. The film also featured great actors such as Ryan Reynolds, Elizabeth Banks, Rachel Weisz, Kevin Kline, and Abigail Breslin. She also got a role in the 2009 indie film How I Got Lost. In the same year, she appeared in the historic television drama Taking Chance as Kelley Phelps. She was cast in supporting roles for the HBO comedy series Bored to Death, the NBC police procedural series Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and NBC’s medical drama, Trauma.

Wickersham’s next appearance on the big screen was a supporting role in the romantic drama film Remember Me. The film, released in 2010, also starred Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, and Pierce Brosnan. She starred in the sci-fi movie I Am Number Four in 2011. Her first major role on the big screen came when she was cast as Molly Conway in the mystery thriller Gone in 2012. Directed by Heitor Dhalia, Amanda Seyfried also plays the role of Jill, Molly’s sister, in this film. The film had a box office turnover of 18,100,189 dollars.

Without a doubt, Emily Wickersham’s most prominent role is that of NSA analyst Ellie Bishop. On her debut on November 19, 2013, Wickersham went from a supporting role to a regular series. Since her debut, she has appeared in over a hundred NCIS episodes and is set to appear in more. NCIS was renewed for a seventh season on April 11, 2019. The first episode of the season was broadcast on September 24, 2019.
