Mickie James is an American professional wrestler, country singer, songwriter, and model. She first became involved in professional wrestling in 1999 under the stage name “Alexis Laree” as a chamber servant. Mickie then trained in several development camps to improve her wrestling skills and finally got a contract with the WWE in 2003.

On her first assignment with the WWE, Mickie James reigned as WWE Women’s Champion a total of 5 times. She also won the WWE Divas Championship at the 2009 Night of Champions event and the former WWE Women’s Champion returned to the Independent Wrestling Circuit after being released from WWE in October 2010. After a 6-year break, she returned to the WWE brand in December 2016.

Mickie Laree James was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 31, 1979, the son of Stuart James and Sandra Knuckles. Her father worked as a landscape gardener before becoming a basketball coach. Her mother, on the other hand, worked both as a teacher and as a real estate agent. Mickie James grew up next to a sister, but after her parent’s divorce, she earned 5 half-brothers and sisters.

Mickie James grew up in Montpelier, Virginia. She completed her high school education at Patrick Henry High School, which she graduated from in 1997. Besides her love for equestrian sports, Mickie James developed an interest in wrestling from an early age. She also trained at a professional wrestling school in Washington, D.C.

James entered the professional wrestling sport as a valet in 1999 under the name “Alexis Laree”. She also served as a manager for several independent female wrestlers before making her own wrestling debut in March 1999 in a multi-gender tag team match. James has also worked as a waitress and glamour model to provide her income. In the early 2000s, she finally joined TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) as a regular performer.

Her WWE Career

In August 2003, Mickie James received a development contract with the WWE, after which she spent the first months of training in the Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). In 2004, she appeared for OVW in several tag team matches on television. Finally, on October 24, 2005, Mickie made her professional WWE debut under her real name in an episode of WWE Raw.

On April 2, 2006, she won her first women’s championship at WrestleMania 22. On August 14, she finally lost the title to her WWE star Lita. Mickie later defeated Lita on November 26 at the Survivor Series (2006) to reclaim the women’s championship title. After losing the title on February 24, 2007, James took it back for the third time on April 24. Her third appearance as WWE Women’s Champion is recorded as the shortest reign in history, as she was promptly defeated in a return match on the same day.

A year later, Mickie James Beth defeated Phoenix to claim her fourth women’s championship. She successfully defended the title on Judgement Day (2008) before losing it to Phoenix on SummerSlam (2008). On 26 July 2009, she won her first WWE Divas Championship at the Night of Champions event, becoming the second WWE diva to win both the Women’s and Diva titles. She finally lost the title in October 2009, after which she was transformed by Raw into the WWE SmackDown brand.

On 31 January 2010, Mickie James defeated then women’s champion Michelle McCool at the Royal Rumble event, winning her fifth women’s championship. McCool later won the title on 26 February in a match led by special guest referee Vickie Guerrero. All efforts by James to regain the title were unsuccessful. She was finally dismissed from WWE on 22 April 2010. After leaving WWE, Mickie James took part in independent wrestling from 2010 to 2016.

After a 6-year break from WWE, Mickie James was awarded a multi-million dollar contract with the brand in December 2016. On 10 April 2017, she was drafted into the WWE Raw as part of the WWE Superstar Shake-up 2017.

2. Mickey may be a professional wrestler at the moment, but she plans to become a horse trainer and run her own farm when she retires. During her childhood, she spent much of her free time on her grandmother’s horse farm, which gave her a keen interest in all things equestrian. She is also a big fan of equestrian sports and currently owns 3 Morgan horses named Rhapsody, Bunny, and Casanova.

3. She is married to her professional wrestler colleague Nick Aldis alias Magnus. On September 25, 2014, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Donovan Patrick Aldis. They got engaged in December 2014 and finally tied the knot for life on New Year’s Eve 2015.

4. Mickie James, a star of many talents, is also a well-established country singer. Their debut album Strangers & Angels were released on iTunes on 18 May 2010. Her second studio album Somebody’s Gonna Pay was released on May 7, 2013, and debuted at #15 on the Billboard Heatseekers charts.
