These are just a few of the many heroic feats he has accomplished in his career. Here you can see them all, along with the story of his weight loss and many other interesting events in his life.

Kyle Lowry Career Stats and Injury

Born on March 25, 1986, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Point Guard began his career on the basketball team at Cardinal Dougherty High School. By the time he graduated high school, Kyle Lowry was already considered a five-star recruit and in 2004 was ranked number 6 in the point guard and number 28 in the country’s total number of players.

He was involved in the men’s basketball team at Villanova University. Lowry was named a Big East All-Rookie team in his first season and was named Philadelphia Big Five Rookie of the Year. He was also named to the second All-Big East team in his second season and to the first All-Big 5 team in his second season.

In all his 55 games with Villanova, Lowry averaged a total of 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 3.6 steals. He debuted his professional career with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2006 after being selected by the franchise in the then NBA draft. Kyle signed a two-year rookie contract with the Grizzlies on July 9, 2006.

During his time with the Grizzlies, he injured himself on opening night against the New York Knicks. His rookie season also ended after only 10 games due to a broken wrist he sustained against the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 21, 2006, but he was successfully operated on. During his stay with the team (2006-2009), he played 140 games and achieved an overall average of 22.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 10.4 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.

His high expectations for a long career with the grizzlies were disappointed when the grizzlies placed another point guard over him in the 2007 NBA draft, and so he predicted that his future would not lie in the team.

Lowry joined the Houston Rockets (2009-2012) after being traded in a three-team deal with the Orlando Magic. He had successful seasons with the Rockets and achieved career highlights that solidified his reputation with the team. The baller recorded his first triple-double on March 20, 2011, with a career highlight of 11 setbacks and 28 points in a win over Utah Jazz.

In all his seasons with The Rocket, Lowry averaged 44.5 points, 15 rebounds, 21.3 assists, and 4.7 steals. However, he fell out of his good relationship with the team’s head coach, Kevin McHale, and during an interview with ESPN in 2014, the point guard admitted that he was successful with McHale and would still be in the Rockets if he got it right. He apologized for his behavior as the team was pursuing him as a free player.

In addition, Lowry missed the game due to a bacterial infection and made room for his replacement point guard Goran Dragic who played well as a starter and gained ground with the team. This led the Rockets to decide to swap Lowry with others to make room for salary caps and win draft picks.

Lowry joined the Toronto Raptors on July 11, 2012, to help upgrade the team. Although this did not go as expected, the newly hired general manager of the Raptors, Masai Ujiri, encouraged Lowry to go beyond a player with a salary of $2 to $3 million. He had also received support from other mentors, which boosted his morale to play better.

In the 2013/2014 season, the Raptors quickly became one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, with a franchise-best score of 48-34; many saw Lowry’s leadership and explosive play as a key factor in their success. He went into the off-season as one of the NBA’s most sought-after free agents, which prompted the Raptors to re-sign him and offer him a four-year $48 million contract.

He continued his strong play in the 2014-2014-15 NBA season, becoming the team’s best player of all time in the triple-double on November 7, 2014.

As his contract with the Toronto Raptors expired in 2017, Lowry was re-contracted on July 7, 2017, for another three years with a $100 million contract. This year he moved up to fourth place in Toronto’s Toronto All-Time-Points list and led the team to several victories.

In all his 432 games with the Raptors, he achieved an average of 107.1 points, 29.2 points, 40.9 assists, and 9.2 steals. During the Raptors’ first-round playoff series against the Washington Wizards in Game 2, Lowry had 13 points and a career playoff-high 12 assists when the Raptors took a 2-0 lead for the first time in the team’s history with a 130-119 win.

The basketball player stands at a height of 6 feet (1.83 m) and weighs 205 lbs (93 kg). Lowry made national headlines when he was slimmer and in great shape for a game-changer in the 2015-16 season. His weight loss journey became a hot topic when the photo of the Raptors’ point guard appeared on Instagram on August 5, 2015. He stated that he wanted to be ready “for the 82 games and the long playoff period”. He understood the fact that the lighter the old people, the easier they should be.
