Kevin Lazan is an American lawyer and businessman best known to the media as the husband of pop singer Rachel Platten, who made her big breakthrough in 2015 with the song Fight Song, which was so loved by Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton in 2016 that she played it at many of her rallies. Lazan was born in 1981. Not much is known about his early life and upbringing. However, according to his Linkedin profile, Lazan attended the University of Massachusetts from 1998 to 2002, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Legal Studies, Journalism.
After graduation, Lazan became a junior agent at Puck Agency LLC (formerly known as SFX Hockey). He held this position for three years and left it in 2005. Lazan’s next job was with Railway Media LLC, where he worked as operations manager.
Lazan also worked as a strategist and operations manager at CR Media, LLC, a company of which he was a founding member. After one year and 5 months in office, Lazan began his MBA studies at the Stern School of Business at New York University. In 2010 he completed his studies with an MBA in Strategy and Finance.
Thanks to his MBA, Lazan was able to land a better job. In June 2009 he started working as Managing Consultant Strategy and Transformation at Capgemini Consulting in New York. Lazan left Capgemini in 2013 to join another New York firm, Next Street, a firm whose “mission is to change the way financial and business advisory services are delivered to small businesses and non-profit organizations in urban markets.
Lazan’s position at Next was that of director of the New York consulting practice. After working for two years and three months, he left the company in January 2016 to start his own service café and all-day restaurant called The Gables. The company is based in Santa Monica, California. Lazan, who is not too active in social media, has even created an IG site to promote his company.

Lazan’s relationship with Rachel Platten is the reason why he is well known to the media. The couple met in 2006, and thanks to Lazan’s affinity for music and film, it was easy for Platten to fall in love with him. “We understood each other immediately,” Rachel once said about her meeting with Kevin. She added: “Kevin is friendly and brilliant, he loves music and is an incredible film quitter, which I really appreciate.
Her first date, however, was not exactly the perfect one. Platten once described it this way: “It (the first date) was really disgusting, filthy, a kind of Lower East Side Dungeon Bar. It [looked] like a lesbian night that night, so lots of women were cuddling, which is really cool. But he was really embarrassed. He was like, “Oh my God, this is not what I wanted you to do. Oh, my God. I think his friend was messing with him”.
After 6 solid years of dating, the couple decided to get married in 2012. The ceremony was a Jewish ceremony at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol, Rhode Island.
Talking to New England Weddings about their big day, Platten said: “I realized that [planning a wedding] can be as artistic as writing a song. I really threw myself into the work.”

Platten and Kevin supported each other’s careers. Talking to US Weekly, Platten lovingly said of her husband: “I’m married to an amazing man, we’ve been together for 10 years, and he’s a huge reason why I continue to believe in my dreams. Her song Superman was dedicated to her husband who was struggling with his sick father at the time. Platten was in the process of recording the album, so she thought it would be wise to write a song to support her husband from afar.
She said;
“I couldn’t be there as much as I would have liked. I felt really selfish and like I wasn’t a good partner. And the only thing I could do was to write him a song, right? I’m about 3,000 miles away and I wrote to him that song because I thought you were there for me, very loving and very supportive. And look, you don’t have to be strong right now. I have you. So I’m really glad I got to record this song.”
Kevin and Rachel haven’t started raising a family together yet. At the time of writing, they have no children.
