Jordan Brian Henderson, born in Sunderland, England, was born Jordan Brian Henderson on 17 June 1990. His parents are Brian and Liz Henderson. Before he registered at Sunderland he attended Farringdon Community Sports College.
He signed his first professional contract on 1 June 2008 and made his debut in November of the same year. Jordan joined Sunderland’s first team but did not have many performances in the first season. Consequently, he was loaned out.
Coventry City became his temporary home, originally on the basis of a one-month rental contract in January 2009, but which was then extended until the end of the season. During his time with the city, he completed 10 missions and scored 4 goals. After a fracture of the metatarsal bone of his foot, he returned to his parents’ club. On his return, he made his breakthrough and was used more often. By 2011 he had played 71 games and scored four goals. He scored his first Premier League goal against Manchester City on 19 December. Finally, Jordan Henderson was listed on the official FIFA website as one of 13 young players to be seen in 2011 and was named Sunderland’s Young Player of the Year.
In mid-2011, Jordan Henderson made a career leap. After proving that he was the next thing in the world of football, he moved to Liverpool for a fee of around $20 million. His first appearance was against his mother club, which provoked a mixed reaction from Sunderland fans. Nonetheless, he continued to take giant steps towards a successful career. However, the initial short-term contract, which ended when the new manager Brendan Rodgers took office, became a long-term contract. His contract was extended by five years on April 23, 2015.
By appearing more frequently and increasing his goalscoring potential, he established himself as a permanent member of the Liverpool team. On 29 September 2014, he made his 100th appearance for the club with a 3-1 win over Sunderland.
His career took a further turn when he was appointed vice-captain of the team following the departure of Danish player Daniel Agger. Jordan first started as captain in November 2014 and has remained so since Steven Gerrard’s departure in June 2015.
On the same day that he was appointed captain of the team, it was announced that he would be featured alongside Lionel Messi on the front page of the British edition of FIFA 16. He was also named Premier League Goal of the Month in September 2015 after scoring a spectacular 25-yard goal in a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
He made his international debut in 2009 and has represented England at four different levels. From 2009 to 2010 he was covered 18 times for the English U-19, U-20, and U-21 national teams and contributed four goals. In 2010 he was invited to join the Three Lions and has already made five appearances for the national team. He has also represented his country at UEFA Euro 2012 and 2016 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Jordan has also been appointed to the 23-member England national team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
