Manuela Escobar is the only daughter of the Colombian drug baron and narco-terrorist Pablo Escobar. Considering that her doting father’s cartel supplied an estimated 80% of the cocaine smuggled into the United States and generated $21.9 billion a year in personal income at the height of his career, it is safe to say that Manuela lived on a bed of roses.

Manuela was born in Colombia on 25 May 1984 as the daughter of Pablo Escobar and Maria Victoria Henaoas. She is one of two children of her mother, the other is a brother named Juan Pablo.
One of the interesting facts about growing up as the daughter of a drug baron is that you get to know another side of your father’s violent and ruthless reputation. Since Manuela grew up under the king of cocaine, she was privy to all the luxuries and pleasures one would expect from a modern technology billionaire.

After the death of the almighty patriarch of the Escobar family, Manuela and the rest of the family moved from country to country to escape the reach of the authorities. With her mother and brother, they ran to countries like Brazil, Peru, South Africa, and Mozambique.
Finally, they found asylum in Argentina. In Buenos Aires, the family lived under a new name, including Manuela Escobar, whose name was changed to Juana Manuela Marroquin Santos.
In Buenos Aires, Manuela and the rest of her family lived a quiet life. She went to a local school and was brought up like a normal child. Her mother, Maria Henao, became a real estate entrepreneur. Unfortunately, this stability did not last long.
After one of her mother’s business partners discovered her true identity, a series of incidents led to their being exposed to the authorities. Manuela’s life was turned upside down again, this time by the arrest of her mother and her brother Juan.

After the release of Manuela’s mother and brother for money laundering, the two assumed their identities. Juan and Maria remained in the media spotlight, giving interviews and appearing in public. Juan also wrote and published a book, Pablo Escobar: My Father, which he published in 2014. He was also the subject of a 2009 Argentine documentary, Sins of My Father.
However, Manuela Escobar, who was her father’s favorite, continues to live outside the media spotlight. A decision that surprised many, as she is the only member of her family who has never been arrested.
Because of her secrecy, Manuela’s whereabouts remain unknown to the public, and the drug lord’s daughter seems content to live outside her father’s large dark shadows.

Considering that drug barons and drug deals are part of the informal economy, it is very difficult to trace asset transfers and other assets left to their families after their death. For example, Pablo Escobar may have had net assets of $30 billion at the peak of his career, but how much of that wealth ended up in Manuela Escobar’s hands remains unknown.
