Dove Cameron is an American actress and singer who began acting in local productions at the age of eight. She is best known for her double role as the title character in the teenage sitcom Liv and Maddie on the Disney Channel and as Mal, the daughter of Maleficent in Descendants.
Dove Cameron’s Bio
Cameron was born as Chloe Celeste Hosterman in Seattle Washington and grew up on Bainbridge Island in Washington. Growing up with her parents helped to spark her interest in acting as they encouraged her to pursue a career as an actress.
Cameron’s French background gave her the opportunity to speak the language fluently after many years of growing up in France.
She attended Sakai Intermediate School and at the age of 8, Cameron began acting in the community theatre in Bainbridge Performing Arts. From an early age, she also made her living as a singer, and when she was 14, her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she sang in the National Championship Show Choir of Burbank High School.

There is no doubt that Cameron was a beauty growing up, but that didn’t stop her from falling victim to bullies at school. According to the actress, she was harassed throughout her school years, from the fifth grade to the end of high school.
However, she did not let the pressure at school and the need to adapt keep her from her dreams. She continued to focus on her dreams of becoming successful in the entertainment industry.
In 2007 Cameron took on the role of a young Cosette in the Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA) stage production of Les Miserables. The following year she also played the lead role of Maria in The Secret Garden, again with BPA.
Cameron was cast as Alanna in 2012 in a new Disney Channel Original Series called Bits and Pieces. After the series was shot, she was recast as Liv and Maddie, a change in which Cameron starred in the dual lead of Liv and Maddie Rooney. The series premiered on July 19, 2013, while the show premiered on September 15, 2013.
The pilot of the hit series reached 5.8 million viewers, making history as the most-watched in the total number of viewers in the 2.5 years since the series Shake It Up!
The Disney Channel renewed Liv and Maddie for the second season of 13 episodes, which will premiere in fall 2014. The series was later expanded to 24 episodes. On December 22, 2015, Liv and Maddie were officially renewed for a fourth season, making it the 9th live-action Disney Channel show in history to do so.
Cameron also starred in the television movie Descendants, which premiered on July 31, 2015. The movie was seen by 6.6 million people and featured Cameron’s two first Billboard Hot 100 songs, Rotten to the Core on #38 and a solo song, If Only, on #94. Other songs from the movie starring Cameron, such as Set It Off and Evil Like Me, reached #6 and #12 respectively on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts.
She resumed her role as Mal in Descendants 2, which premiered on July 21, 2017, on the Disney Channel.
In 2015 Cameron and Ryan McCartan formed a band called The Girl and the Dreamcatcher. On October 2 of the same year, the duo released their first single “Written in the Stars”. This was followed by the band’s second single, Glowing in the Dark, which was released on January 29, 2016.
In April 2016, Cameron became engaged to their Liv and Maddie co-star, Ryan McCartan. Although they looked adorable together, the couple canceled the wedding in October of the same year.

Cameron is the daughter of Philip Alan Hosterman and Bonnie Wallace, whose marriage later broke up. She has an older sister, Claire Hosterman.
Cameron’s father Philip died when she was 15 years old. However, he played an important role in encouraging her to pursue her dreams in the entertainment industry.

Dove Cameron’s Best Friend
The fans thought she was going to marry her best friend (and body double for Liv and Maddie), Emmy Buckner, while Cameron was with Ryan.
The misunderstanding began when Cameron posted a photo of herself kissing Emmy on the cheek while Emmy held a ring in front of her face. She described the photo as “She said yes!”
It was meant to be a joke, but the post set fire to the comments section, as some fans believed that she was serious about the engagement. Nevertheless, she refuted the claims and made it clear that she is still together with Ryan.
