Danny Kanell is a former American professional football player who currently works with Fox Sports 1, America’s sport-oriented cable and satellite television channel, and with the satellite radio SiriusXM.

Danny, whose original name is Daniel Kanell, was once a professional football quarterback in the Arena Football League and the National Football League and had worked with ESPN as their analyst and host of the Russillo & Kanell show.

Danny was born on November 21, 1973, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the United States as the son of his father Dane Kanell, and his mother Diane Kanell. His siblings include Daryl, Debbie, and Dana.

The white American attended Florida State University, where he played 35 games and scored 62.2% of his 851 passing attempts. He finished his last senior season at Florida State University with the “Honorable Mention” of the All-American title. Danny’s career as a footballer began in high school as a junior and led Westminster Academy to a 12-1 record and a state championship. However, his professional career in the sport did not begin until after he joined Florida State University in 1992.

During his time at the university, Danny Kanell maintained his position as the quarterback of the school team for four years, and while playing football throughout his studies, he also played baseball for the seminaries and was drafted by the New York Yankees after his draft round in Major League Baseball (MLB) in 1993.

Driven by his passion for football, he was eventually led to a career in the NFL, although he returned to baseball in 2001 when he played in the minor leagues for the Atlantic League Newark Bears. Danny played first base, third base, and designated hitters.

His commendable performances kept him in his second year of college. He then moved on to the New York Giants in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft, where he made his NFL debut and performed superbly during his time with the Giants, leading him to the NFC Eastern Division title.

Despite his performances on the field, Danny’s career did not bring him as much money as expected. In fact, his footballing career began to fade from 2000 when he was dismissed by the Atlanta Falcons after serving as a replacement for the often-injured starting quarterback Chris Chandler. He played in Atlanta for two years and, as the Falcon, completed 99 of 200 passing attempts over a total of 1,117 yards, six touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Danny Kanell joined the AFL New York Dragons for the 2002 season. After a short time, he signed with the Denver Broncos of Colorado, where he was the third quarterback on the roster. In the same year, the young football player Danny Kanell announced his retirement and has since worked as a football analyst for ESPN shows before moving to Fox Sports 1, after his contract with the former expired on 26 April 2017.

While working at ESPN as a color analyst for Friday night college football games and college baseball, he is said to have received an estimated $95,000 in salary before joining the 100 employees of the U.S.-based global cable and satellite sports television channel. Currently, his salary as a part-time match analyst is not yet known, but his net worth is estimated at $2 million, which he earned in both the Arena Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL) during his previous career.

Despite all his achievements as quarterback for the New York Giants, Danny earned only $216,000, which was the league’s minimum salary.
