Alexander Rossi’s Bio
Alexander Michael Rossi was born in Auburn, California on September 25, 1991, and grew up with his parents in Nevada City: Peter and Dawn Rossi. He belongs to the white ethnic group and has American citizenship. Alex attended Forest Lake Christian High School in Auburn and graduated at the age of 16.
Like most other professional racers, he showed his interest in the sport at a young age and started racing karts. In 2005 he became Grand Champion of the International Karting Federation in the 100cc Yamaha class. He was a semi-finalist in the Redbull Formula One American Drivers Search, which earned him the 2006 Skip Barber National Scholarship from the Skip Barber Racing School, where he became the youngest champion at the age of 14 and finished 3rd overall.
Alexander Rossi Professional Career
Rossi began his Formula 1 career in 2007 in the Formula BMW USA series, where he finished third in the overall championship. He drove for Team Apex Racing, USA, and clinched three victories with five podium finishes. He moved to Europe to race under HiTech Racing and later under ISR Racing. In the 2009 Formula Master Championship, he finished 4th, which was no small feat for a starter.
In 2010 he joined the multiple victorious Team ART Grand Prix for the new GP3, where he won twice and finished 4th in the series. He finished third in the World Series by Renault as the best young driver and remained with the team for some time before switching to other teams for other championships.

In 2012 he was a test driver for Caterham F1 alongside reserve driver Giedo van der Garde. He was the first American driver to drive in a Formula 1 session since 2007. From 2012 to 2014 he continued to drive for Caterham at various other times before leaving the team.
After leaving Caterham, Alexander Rossi moved to Marussia F1 as a reserve driver for the remainder of the 2014-2015 season, where he made his debut at the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix. Rossi then drove in 5 of the 7 races of the 2015 season before switching to the Indy Car Series with Team Andretti Autosport for the 2016 Indy Car Series.
Alexander Rossi made his Indy Car debut at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix at the season opener, where he qualified in the 19th position behind and finished 12th as the highest rookie. He won the Indianapolis 500 after starting from the 11th position on the grid. After his impressive performance in the races he competed in, he was named “Rookie” of the 2016 season.
