She is of Puerto Rican descent and was born in Queens, New York on December 27, 1990. This makes her an American citizen. Zelina Vega grew up in a family that loved sports; she played baseball, practiced swimming, and often watched wrestling with her father Michael and brother Timothy. Her parents later divorced, when she and her brother were tender with each other but still kept in touch.
At the age of 17, Zelina Vega decided to pursue a career in wrestling, and so she began training under Javi-Air, Azrieal, and T.J. Perkins. She learned quickly, and soon she was ready to make her professional wrestling debut. Vega debuted on February 20th, 2010 with the ring name “Divina Fly” at the National Wrestling Superstars (NWS) Bloomfield, New Jersey. Zelina Vega was discovered by Tommy Dreamer, who brought her to Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, Impact in 2011, where she signed for promotion with the ring name “Rosita”.
