Ty Segall is one of America’s best musicians, whose musical prowess has been compared to some of the greats such as John Lennon, Jay Reatard, T. Rex, and the Grateful Dead. He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and record producer. His career, which is characterized by its fertile nature, has produced incredible groundbreaking successes and releases.

Since 2007 he has continuously released albums, both as a soloist and in collaborations. Segall has released over ten studio albums as well as various EPs, singles, and collaborative albums. Ty Segall: Biography

Born on June 8, 1987, in Laguna Beach, California, and named Ty Garrett Segall, the musician is an American nationality and belongs to the Caucasian ethnic group. Nothing is known about his biological parents, but he was raised by a lawyer and his artist wife, who adopted him as a child.

Segall was a very active child who grew up. He showed interest in music later in high school but would have done well as a surfer if he had continued the sport. He started surfing at the age of ten but turned to music as a means of escape in his teenage years. Ty Segall describes his youthful self as emotionally unstable and describes himself as a very existential eighteen-year-old drunkard for whom music had a cathartic effect on his instability.

Ty Segall attended Laguna Beach High School and is a graduate of the University of San Francisco, where he earned a degree in Media Studies. After graduating, he worked for eight months on the construction of grow boxes for cannabis plants, but after that, he focused entirely on his musical career.

Ty Segall Career

Segall’s musical catalog is as rich as it is varied. He embarked on his musical odyssey as a part-time musician in various underground bands and has enjoyed great success both as a band member and in his solo career. He went solo in 2008 after being publicly acclaimed as the lead singer of a garage rock revival band from Orange County, California – Epsilons. Since then, the musician has released nearly a dozen studio albums, two live albums, three compilation albums, three EPs, nineteen singles, and sixteen music videos.

He has also worked on a number of side projects. His first solo release was the cassette tape Horn The Unicorn, which was released on the Wizard Mountain label and later on vinyl by HBSP-2X. From 2008 to 2011 he released four studio albums, including a self-titled lo-fi album, Ty Segall (2008); others are Lemons (2009), Melted in 2010 and Goodbye Bread arrived in 2011.

2012 was a pretty busy year for the musician with the release of three full-length albums. He recorded Slaughterhouse with his live tour band Ty Segall Band and released it on June 26th. In April, he recorded another joint album “Hair” with Tim Presley of White Fence, and on October 9th he released the solo album “Twins”. It was a compilation of his various influences and styles up to this point in his career.

In 2013 Segall formed a new hard rock band called Fuzz together with Charles Moothart and Roland Cosio. In the same year, he released a predominantly acoustic solo album in August entitled Sleeper, and Fuzz’s debut album of the same name was released in October 2013. His first double LP Manipulator followed in 2014; he integrated some psycho music into the album. While not recording a solo album in 2015, Segall produced Peacers’ debut album and released an EP in October, Mr. Face on Famous Class, and a second Fuzz album, II. The following month he announced a new studio album, Emotional Mugger, which was described as his first experimental rock album and was finally released in 2016. After its release, Segall formed an accompanying band, a conceptual group called The Muggers.

His ninth album, a second album entitled Ty Segall, was released in 2017, demonstrating his ability to play the full repertoire of rock. As with Emotional Muggers, Segall formed another backup band, The Freedom Band, after the album was released. He is also a member of The CIA, Broken Bat, and GØGGS. His last album Freedom’s Goblin was released on January 26, 2018.

Segall married Denée Petracek Segall in 2016, she is also a musician, and both are members of a band called C.I.A. together with Emmett Kelly of the Cairo Gang. The band released their self-titled debut album in December 2018.
