Born in Rome and raised in Los Angeles, Giada is the daughter of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and film producer Alex De Benedetti. Todd and De Laurentiis met when the celebrity chef was a 19-year-old anthropology student at UCLA and Thompson didn’t know anything about cooking at the time. The two married on May 25, 2003, and the marriage, which produced a child in 2008, a daughter named Jade Marie De Laurentiis-Thompson, finally broke up after 11 years in 2014. Thompson and De Laurentiis first announced their separation on Facebook, stating that their decision to separate was to focus on the future, adding that “the overwhelming desire for their family’s happiness has given them the strength to continue on separate but always connected paths.
