He was born Samuel Alvey on May 6, 1986, in Waterford, Wisconsin. Albey began at a very young age to show unique fighting skills and of course his interest in this sport. At the Waterford Union High School, which he attended, he was known as a good wrestler. Sam also had a penchant for music, played trumpet in the marching band at his school, and was really good at it. His trumpet playing skills made him very popular during his studies at Lakeland College, which he also attended. Alvey’s passion for wrestling and martial arts outweighed his passion for music, however; he soon ventured into mixed martial arts.

Sam tried his hand at mixed martial arts and had his first amateur fight in 2007, and after losing the game via TKO, he won the following two fights. The following year he started his professional career. Alvey recorded many victories in his early professional years, including fights under the rise to King of the Cage. His next victory was a light heavyweight fight against Jason Guida, a Bellator MMA fighter. After an impressive win, he was signed under Bellator and made his middleweight debut against Karl Amoussou. The renowned fighter won his fight against Amoussou and met Vitor Vianna in the middleweight tournament of the fifth season of Bellator.

Alvey’s next assignment was with The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson, where he fought in welterweight before switching to the Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC). In the MFC middleweight championship, he competed against Elvis Mutapic and lost before winning Jason South and Wes Swofford. The UFC was the next stop for the experienced fighter.

He joined the UFC in 2014 and made his debut against Tom Watson in August of the same year. Alvey lost to his opponent on his debut at UFC Fight Night 47 but won his second fight against Dylan Andrews at UFC Fight Night 55. Sam Alvey may seem trapped in his frightening and grueling career, but the fighter takes time for his family and love life. The UFC fighter is married to McKey Sullivan. Alvey’s wife is an American fashion model who won the eleventh cycle of the remarkable model reality show “America’s Next Top Model”. Sullivan competed against thirteen contestants in the show produced by Tyra Banks and won the contest after she distinguished herself throughout the show.

Sam and McKey met at the 2005 Bristol Renaissance Faire, where the UFC fighter was working at the time. A platonic friendship soon turned into a romantic experience and the two became a couple. Sam decided to take things to the next level when he proposed to Sullivan in August 2011. Two years later, in January 2013, the couple finally sealed the marriage in an awe-inspiring wedding ceremony in the presence of family and friends.
