Colombian professional footballer Radamel Falcao has made a name for himself not only in his native Colombia but also on the European football stage. El Tigre, as he is also known, has won many awards since he began his professional career in 2005. His incredible success in the Europa League has led to him being named ‘King of the Europa League’. Falcao is the only player to have won the Europa League titles with two different teams in a row. With 29 goals Falcao is the leading scorer of all time in his national team.
Radamel Falcao’s Bio
Falcao was born on 10 February 1986 in Santa Marta, Colombia, as Radamel Falcao García Zárate. The son of professional footballer Radamel García, Falcao grew up with his father. When Falcao was 5 years old, his father moved with him to Venezuela, where he continued to play football as a defender.
In fact, Falcao’s father named him after the AS Roma legend Paulo Roberto Falcão. It turns out Falcao has English roots. George King, who is from North Yorkshire and emigrated to Colombia to work as an accountant, is one of his great-grandfathers.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Falcao began playing football at a very young age. He began his youth career in 1999 with the Colombian football team Lanceros Boyacá of Categoria Primera.
Falcao joined the Argentinian club River Plate in 2005, and after 4 years he moved to FC Porto in Portugal, where he closed a deal worth around 4 million euros. Falcao significantly increased his playing value in Porto, winning a doubles match in the 2010/2011 season and also becoming the first Colombian to win the Golden Ball of Portugal.
His outstanding performances in Porto opened the floodgates to the interests of the big teams. He chose Atletico Madrid, which he joined in August 2011 with a record transfer fee of 40 million euros. After two seasons with the Spanish team, Falcao was back on the road and arrived in Monaco in May 2013 with a club-record deal worth 60 million euros. However, an injury robbed him of his playing time for a few months.
Falcao was subsequently loaned to Manchester United and then Chelsea before returning to Monaco in 2016. He led the team to the Ligue 1 trophy for the 2016/2017 season.
About His Wife – Lorelei Taron
Many of the world’s star footballers out there have become notorious for their many escapades with women, mostly supermodels alias the genetically blessed. Falcao, however, is one of the few who have managed to remain faithful to one woman over the years, a virtue that has much to do with his Christian faith.
His love story with his Argentinean singer wife Lorelei Taron began in 2004 when he met her in a church in Argentina. At that time Falcao played for the Argentinean professional club River Plate. In their first year of meeting, Falcao made no advances, but later they became closer because they had many mutual friends.
Taron did not immediately succumb to Falcao’s advances, but the star player continued until she gave in. Taron revealed how her mother helped her to start a relationship with Falcao. After a period of getting to know each other, Taron and Falcao went to the altar in Buenos Aires on 13 December 2007. She was just 19 years old at the time, but looking back on her journey so far, it is clear that teenager Taron knew exactly what she was getting into.
Since then, Lorelei Taron has fully supported her husband in his career, defended him in every criticism, and moved with him every time the team changed. When asked by ONN magazine how she manages to cope with the constant moves, Taron said she always kept in mind that every move is temporary, so she tries to learn and enjoy each new city to the fullest.
Having children for Taron and Falcao did not happen right away. The couple waited until August 2013 when they welcomed their first edition, a daughter named Dominique García Tarón. Two years later, in February 2015, they welcomed another daughter named Desiree. In 2017 they added a son.
Although Falcao’s wife is a popular music star in Argentina, she keeps a low profile and avoids the limelight as much as possible. Instead, she devotes her time to raising her children, prayer, and Bible study.
Although Lorelei Taron is of Argentinean nationality, she was born on June 17, 1988, to German parents. Music was something she loved as a child, and in 2016 she worked with singer Alex Campos on her debut album.
