This is the story of Katherine Langford and her sister Josephine Langford, who made a career in the arts as actresses while their parents are doctors.
Luckily for Katherine, her parents were never wildly determined to have children who chose their own career paths. Instead, they supported Katherine’s desire to devote herself to the arts and enrolled her in singing lessons in 2005. Katherine subsequently received classical, contemporary, and jazz singing lessons.
She was then offered a place at her local school, the prestigious Perth Modern School, where she studied music and drama. Katherine’s decision to pursue an acting career by applying to major acting schools was frustrated because she was considered too young and inexperienced. She compromised and settled in her hometown of Perth, Australia, for local acting classes.

Although the acting classes forced her to take part-time jobs to pay her bills, it all paid off for Katherine, who was accepted into the Principal Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts. There she played the lead role in the school production of “Godspell” and made it her first play since her appearance in her high school plays at Perth Modern School.
Her performance in Godspell impressed the acting scouts who came to see the play and she was offered a residency at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. Like a cube of sugar that attracts ants, her Godspell performance opened the door to a wealth of possibilities. In addition to her residency, Katherine Langford also trained at the Nicholson Academy of Screen Acting and played the role of Juan Perón’s lover in Evita, a 2015 play. However, Katherine turned it down and decided to let go of academic performance for more professional roles.
