Bio and Age
The footballer was born on 1 June 1988 in the city of Guadalajara in Mexico as Javier Hernández Balcázar. However, he was raised in Morelia alongside his sister Ana Hernández Balcázar by his parents, Silvia Balcázar and Javier Gutiérrez.
Even as a child, it was obvious that his love of football made him predestined for this sport. This was not entirely surprising, as he was born into a football family with a father who played professional football and a grandfather who did the same when both played in the Mexican national team.
Although it was already clear that young Hernandez would become a footballer, his parents sent him to the Instituto Piaget for primary education, and from there he decided to pursue a youth career in the sports that were in the family’s blood.
As already mentioned, the name Chicharito was not given to him at birth. He inherited it just like he inherited football from his father. In his playing days, the elder Hernandez was known as Chícharo, which means peas because of his green eyes. The name Chicharito, which means small pea, was then coined for the younger Hernandez.
Club Football Career
Chicharito began his club football career in Guadalajara in 1997, and by 2006 his skills had earned him a place in the club’s senior team, which marked the beginning of his senior career. Between 2014 and 2015, when he remained with the club, he had won a FIFA World Cup title and contributed 7 goals in 23 matches.
Bayer Leverkusen became his next club after his transfer in 2015, and from there he returned to England in 2017 to play for West Ham United. By the end of the 2017/2018 season, he had already played 28 games for the club and scored 8 goals.
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez National Football Career
Javier Chicharito Hernandez began playing in Mexico’s national colors in 2007 when he played for the U-20 team. After only playing two games for the team and scoring one goal, he waited until 2009 when he was called up for national duties in the main squad.
By the time he was invited to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Hernandez had already played 101 games for the country, seeing the back of the net 49 times.
The Mexican striker has been involved in a number of relationships in the past. The first woman to become known as the footballer’s girlfriend is Leticia Sahagún. The relationship between the two flourished from 2009 onwards but did not see the light of day as it ended in 2015.
At the time, there was a rumor that he was dating a Hawaiian actress, Chaska Borek. Nevertheless, the next woman who openly became his girlfriend was Lucia Villalon, but the relationship was to end in the same year.
The next relationship of Javier Chicharito Hernandez was with the Mexican singer, actress, and model Camila Sodi in 2017, and again his relationship with the divorcée did not last long as it was soon to end.
