Early Life and Career
Jake Marisnick was born Jacob Shawn Marisnick on March 30, 1991, in Riverside, California. As he grew up, Marisnick revealed that he is a huge soccer and baseball fan. He played both sports from an early age until his junior high school year at Riverside Polytechnic High School, where he decided to focus on just one sport.
Marisnick was considered a highly valued talent entering his senior year. He was expected to compete in the first round of the upcoming selection round, but after a poor performance in his senior year, when he had his lowest batting average in high school, he decided to attend college by enrolling in the University of Oregon. However, as things were about to evolve, Marisnick did not have to go to Oregon as he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the third round of the 2009 MLB Draft.
Jake Marisnick played for a number of teams in the lower leagues for four years before winning chat seats again. The player was named the 58th best prospect in baseball for the 2012 season by MLB.com. In November of the same year, the Blue Jays traded him and a number of other players for the Miami Marlins. It was here that Marisnick got his big break after playing for the Jacksonville Suns, Class A double A national team of his mother team. His performances with the team earned him a promotion to the Marlins, where he made his Major League Baseball debut on July 23, 2013.

Marisnick enjoyed a good start in life as a Major League player. It only took him three days to score his first goal from the Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher, Jeff Locke. A few days later, on July 31, 2013, Marisnick scored the first home run of his career in a game against the New York Mets. He remained with the team until March 2014, when he was given an option to play in the Pacific Coast AAA class league, the New Orleans Zephyrs, before moving to the Houston Astros a few months later.
In the 2014 season as a member of the Astros, Jake Marisnick played 51 games in which he scored a batting average of 0.272 with 3 home runs, 19 hit runs, and 6 stolen bases. He enjoyed an even better 2015 season with a batting average of 0.236 and an OPS of 0.665 over 133 games and 339 at-bats. Since Marisnick was unable to continue his form in the 2016 season, he switched to the Fresno Grizzlies of the Pacific Coast League, a triple-A member of the Astros.
In the 2017 season, Marisnick returned to the Astros and played 106 games, hitting a batting average of 0.243, 16 home runs, and 35 runs. In the 2017 postseason, Marisnick, unfortunately, did not belong to the team because he was nursing an injury. However, he was part of the 40-man team that ultimately won the 2017 World Series.
