Dove Cameron was born Chloe Celeste Hosterman on January 15, 1996, in Seattle, Washington, as the daughter of Philip Alan Hosterman and Bonnie Wallace. Cameron was 8 years old when she began performing at Bainbridge Performing Arts in the community theater. As a child, she was often called Dove or Dovey by her father. When he died in 2011, Cameron changed her name from Chloe to Dove in his honor.
At the time of her father’s death, Dove was already in LA to improve her chances of realizing her dream of becoming an actress and singer. “I became very passionate [about becoming an actress and singer]. I have fully immersed myself,” she was told about her career.
