The years have passed, and the young man is still fervently eager to play America’s number one sport. Devin Funchess’ Biography 

Devin Funchess was born in Farmington Hills, Michigan on May 21, 1994, the son of a black American family. As he grew up, his parents enrolled him at Harrison High School in Farmington Hills, where he actively participated in the career, playing basketball and, of course, soccer. Like many others who are now professionals but started playing soccer in high school, Funchess focused more on the pigskin sports that he played with all his heart.

Despite this, Devin was just as good at the other sports activities he participated in. In fact, the boy jumped 5.53 meters, which was his personal best at the 2011 Oakland County Championships, where he finished 25th.

In his junior year (2010) Devin had 34 passes for 709 yards that he caught and 5 touchdowns. In his senior year, he had 21 receptions for 452 yards, 5 touchdowns, 3 sacks, 1 interception, and 3 pass resolutions. For his high school achievements, the boy was awarded four stars by 247 sports and football scouts and three stars by Rivals.com. In view of this high award, Devin Funchess committed to play football for the University of Michigan in 2011.

As a freshman with an outstanding pedigree, Funches was not a player to be hired red, he got plenty of playing time on the Michigan Wolverine soccer team. The Football Writers Association of America named him an All-Big Ten and Freshman All-America team in 2012. His impressive performances continued into the 2013 season, which is why he was named “Big Ten’s Tight End of the Year”. At the beginning of his last college football season, the Farmington Hills, Michigan-born player announced that he would be relinquishing his last year of college and entering the National Football League Draft 2015.

The Carolina Panthers took Devin Funchess as their 41st overall candidate in the second round of the NFL Draft 2015 all by himself. After a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which the first wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin suffered, the team’s coach got him to fill the vacuum and he did not disappoint.

He finished his first professional season with 31 catches on 473 yards, which for a newcomer to the franchise, meant a record as the fifth-highest catch in the franchise’s history. His 5 touchdowns were also a record for a newcomer as the second most touchdowns. In 2016 he played 16 games in the season, scoring 23 catches for 371 yards and 4 touchdowns. However, the worst happened towards the end of the year when Devin found himself on the reserve list for injured players after a knee injury he sustained in a game against the Atlanta Falcons. However, he recovered from the injury and returned to the field to do his work for the Panthers.

In the 2017 season, Devin Funchess had a career highlight with 840 receiving yards, 8 touchdowns, and only 66 drops of catchable passes. As he is still young and can look back on his exploits at school, Devin Funchess is obviously expected to do much more, and as he continues to build his career, we will certainly see this young man play plays that will be remembered for a lifetime.
