If you remember Commissioner Nick Burkhard from NBC’s Grimm series, you already know David Giuntoli. But this is not the only project he has in his acting portfolio. The American actor, director, writer, and producer have worked on many projects since the beginning of his career in 2003.

David has had short appearances in series like “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Ghost Whisperer”, “Veronica Mars” and “Private Practice”. He has also starred in many films such as Turn the Beat Around, U.S. Attorney, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, and Buddymoon, which he co-wrote.

David Giuntoli Early Life and Rise to Fame

Giuntoli was born on June 18, 1980, in the state of Wisconsin in the Midwest of Wisconsin in the city of Milwaukee. He was born the son of his father David Giunloti, who is of Italian descent, and Mary Giuntoli, who is of Austrian and Polish descent. David grew up in Missouri, where he attended St. Louis University High School. He talked about how his unfavorable physique excluded him from athletics at that time. So he began to take an interest in the world of acting. In 2002 he earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Finance from Indiana University in Bloomington.

Despite his degree in Business and Finance, David never had any plans to set out on the road of business. After university, he returned to St. Louis and began training as an actor with the help of his high school drama teacher.

While working with his teacher and participating in local acting circles, he was discovered by some MTV talent scouts. This led to his first career project when he was cast in the MTV reality series Road Rules: South Pacific. Filming on this project took three months, and he then appeared on the spin-off game show Real World/Road Rules Challenge. His paycheck from this enabled the young actor to take care of his student loans. This encouraged him in his determination to pursue an acting career.

In 2007 he moved to Los Angeles where he joined the Echo Theater Company. Prior to that, he honed his talent by training with Chris Fields – an acting teacher and director. This led to a series of performances, albeit in smaller roles and guest appearances in television series and films such as Cold Case, Privileged, Nip/Tuck, and Without a Trace. During this time, the actor also missed an opportunity to participate in a project that would have definitely made his fame soar. He was considered for the role of Superman in the renamed movie Man of Steel but lost to his actor colleague Henry Cavill.

Nonetheless, David was given another role that increased his fame and audience in the film industry. In 2011 he ended up in the cast of the NBC movie Grimm. He played the lead role in the series as Detective Nick Burkhardt. The series tells the story of a police detective (David Giuntoli) who discovers that he comes from a long line of “Grimms”. The only mission of a Grimms, as Nick discovers, is to maintain peace and quiet between the world of mythological beings and the world of humans.

The series debuted on October 28, 2011, and ran over six seasons consisting of 123 episodes, which were broadcast for the last time on March 31, 2017. While working with Grimm, the actor also found time for other projects such as the 2012 drama Caroline and Jackie, and David Giuntoli also produced and co-wrote the comedy Buddymoon in 2016. It tells the story of a former child actor named David, who is left heartbroken and depressed after his fiancĂ©e cancels her relationship days for their wedding. His best friend and best man – played by Flula Borg – then decides to take him on the already planned honeymoon.
